SMARTPITCH® FIXES PITCH SPEED ILLUSION

SmartPitch® eliminates the problem that fans often overestimate pitch speed.
When a casual observer hears a booming, crisp snap or pop of the ball into the catcher's mitt, their brain instinctively overestimates the velocity. See National Institute of Health (NIH) study at this link.
SmartPitch® measures exact speed using just your phone. See this SmartPitch® vs professional radar gun faceoff video.

A 2026 video demonstration on YouTube highlights how an intentional "pocket catch" creates an artificial pop. For a casual fan, an 85 mph fastball caught perfectly in the pocket of a premium leather glove will frequently be guessed as 92+ mph simply because it sounds explosive.
Stadium & Facililty Acoustics: Smaller stadiums or indoor training facilities amplify sound waves. A pitch thrown in an enclosed batting cage or a concrete stadium sounds much more powerful—and thus looks faster—than the exact same pitch thrown in an open, absorbing park.
Glove Quality and Placement: Higher-quality, stiffer leather creates a much sharper "whip-crack" sound.
Furthermore, if a catcher catches a slower pitch precisely in the "hinge" or pocket, it generates a massive pop. If a pitcher fires a genuine 95 mph rocket but the catcher catches it in the web or palms it, the sound deadens into a dull thud, causing casual observers to guess the speed was much lower than it actually was.
Don't guess wrong. Just use SmartPitch® to turn your phone into a precision speed gun.
